How to Take The Exam

Students who cannot attend class should make in-person contact at least once.

Email contact is not really very useful. All the stuff is here or linked from here. What you are reading now serves as instructions for non frequentanti, so please read carefully.

  • Step one is to register on the interactive platform used for the exam. You'll need to authenticate here at the exam anyway.
  • Students will also need to sign up for the test on SIFA.
  • After SIFA enrollment has closed, students will be assigned a time slot for the test, with priority given to those ready on JLI!, the exam platform.
  • Once the course has ended, before taking the test, attending students should turn in their log of class participation using the dedicated JLI! module.
  • During the test students will need to repeatedly save their work, i.e. save the answers they have put in.

How the Exam "Is Structured"

Everybody asks this question. The simple answer is that the test consists or two kinds of questions. Some questions are automatically corrected, in the manner of TOEFL reading-comprehension questions. The other kind of question is a short essay to be read by a human being. The more in-depth answer is that students should try out the sample questions on the exam platform to get a sense of how it works. Passages and ideas used for the test will be taken from required reading and things discussed in class.

Other Material

A great deal of other material was used in class or recommended for independent study. A summary of how to use it for review (i.e. exam preparation) is under development. However, priority should be given to exploring JLI!
